THP Project Purple Initiative: Port Washington, NY

Paul D. Schreiber High School in Long Island, NY joined the THP Project Purple Initiative this year by going Purple!

Student athletes from the Letter Club along with the support of the Port Washington task force hosted their first annual THP Project Purple week bringing awareness to the dangers of substance abuse and embracing the “I AM” campaign. The students and staff constructed large, purple heart cutouts in the lobby featuring individual “I AM” statements and there were so many, they could be found lining many halls within the high school.

The students of Port Washington finished their week of purple awareness at the JV and Varsity girls’ basketball game inviting community members, students and young athletes to fill the bleachers wearing purple shirts! Fans also received purple pom- poms, purple pride tattoos, purple necklaces and purple shoelaces.

The result of this wonderful, fun-filled week of purple awareness ended with 600 Paul D. Schreiber High School students and community members taking the THP Project Purple initiative pledge! Thank you Port Washington for standing up and together with THP…PURPLE!
